13 Windows Exhibition – 21st to 26th June 2024

Mon – Fri 10am to 8pm | Sat 10am to 6pm | Sun 12pm to 5pm

Edinburgh Palette, St. Margaret’s House, 151 London Road, Edinburgh, EH7 6AE

13 Windows is an exhibition by six diverse artists, connected by the drive to create and the impetus to persist.

St Margaret’s House was the place where we first connected. Since its opening in 2008, studio spaces have been let by the number of windows – 1 window, 2, 3 or more. Over the past 16 years we had 13 between us.

Some of us are exploring new artistic avenues, while some have been working in the same vein for years.

The six of us are at different stages in the cycle of creative life. The work displayed at Edinburgh Palette is the latest iteration of our creative practices.

Behind the windows of this austere eight-storey tower block, we have been a set painter, textile artist, sculptor, illustrator, prop maker, fine artist, photographer, photo historian, student, teacher, web designer, community artist, printmaker.

It provided a home for us through many phases of development. We all chose to be makers and we carved out a place: our workshop, laboratory, playground, sanctuary, office or archive. We are grateful to Edinburgh Palette for the spaces, and chances it gave us.
